Cúirt 2013 will open with a day dedicated to the Crossroads of European Literature: a partnership between the festival and the Vilenica International Literature Festival, Slovenia and Pordenonelegge in Northern Italy. The project will involve author exchanges and public literary events.

Readings in Cúirt 2013 will feature Irish, Slovenian and Italian writers. There will be a special seminar on the theme 'Crossroads of European Literature' that will reflect on language and translation and incorporate a panel discussion with the guest writers. In addition to the festival activities, there will be a Slovenian writer in residence in Galway from late March to the end of April. The writer will visit and write in different parts of Galway and will experience Irish culture and daily life as part of their writing residency.
