The Arts Council today (2nd July) published the report of an independent strategic review group chaired by Mr. Terence O’Rourke. The Strategic Review Report was commissioned by the Arts Council and provides a compelling and challenging series of proposals that will be used by the Arts Council to inform strategy in the years ahead.
The Arts Council will now begin to examine the detail and the implications of the report. A key part of this process will be to continue the conversation commenced during the consultation process with a broad range of stakeholders.
Welcoming the report on behalf of the Arts Council, the Chair Sheila Pratschke said: "We are very pleased with the report, it is an excellent piece of work and we look forward to engaging with it. It will be considered in the context of the Arts Council’s continuing commitment to artists and arts organisations working both at home and internationally in the pursuit of excellence, as well as our role in supporting people across Ireland to access and participate in the arts.
"I want to acknowledge all those who contributed to the process but in particular I want to thank Terence O’Rourke, Chairman of Enterprise Ireland and the members of the Strategic Review Group for the commitment and intellectual rigour they brought to the strategic review process. The Arts Council will examine and discuss the Report in depth in the coming months," she added.
