Panels assist in maintaining standards of quality and ensuring transparency. Peer panel members use their expertise and knowledge to assess, score and make decisions in line with the published criteria for the award and in the context of available funds.

In 2018 the Arts Council sought nominations to the peer panel long list based on the agreed peer panel nomination guidelines.(0.3 MB, PDF). Eligible nominations were verified as complying with the published criteria and approved by Council for the period 2018 to 2023.

In 2021, in line with our Equality, Human Rights and Diversity Policy, further nominations were sought to increase representation on the peer panel list and to add additional equality expertise to the peer panel process.

In 2021 further self-nominations were sought  to increase representation on our panels and to add additional expertise to the panel process.
