The Opera Projects and Production award is intended to
support initiatives by professional practitioners to develop and present opera
in three distinct stages. The first (strand one) is for early stage development
by creative artists of new operatic work, without a requirement to present it
publicly in whole or in part. The second (strand two), is designed to support
development and/or presentation of new work- in-progress, or concert opera
presentations / recordings, or full productions of smaller –scale works. The
third (strand three) is designed to fund fully staged productions of complete
works.
Note: Applicants seeking support to tour productions of
previously staged work should apply to the Touring and Dissemination of Work
scheme, which is open to opera touring.
There are three bands of funding available corresponding to the three strands of the Opera Projects and Production Award:
- Strand 1: Opera Projects: Development: up to a maximum of €25,000
- Strand 2: Opera Projects: Developmental Presentation and smaller scale full production: up to a maximum of €110,000
- Strand 3: Opera Production: up to a maximum of €450,000
