The Arts Council extends its congratulations to Irish writers Paul Lynch and Paul Murray on the news that their novels have been shortlisted for the 2023 Booker Prize.
Arts Council Director Maureen Kennelly said: "We welcome the wonderful news that ‘Prophet Song’ by Paul Lynch and ‘The Bee Sting’ by Paul Murray have been shortlisted for the prestigious Booker Prize.
Paul Lynch is currently Arts Council Writer-in-Residence at Maynooth University, and we are proud to have supported both shortlisted authors through our Bursary Award. We continue to invest in writers at all stages of the creative process.
These are remarkable times for Irish fiction and this recognition for Paul Lynch and Paul Murray is so deserved.”
