- Film Title: NÓRA IN WONDERLAND
- Writer, director and producer: Cléa van der Grijn
NÓRA IN WONDERLAND is a mesmerizing cinematic journey that delves into the profound depths of the human psyche.
It poses the question of what it means to be oneself and examines the darker, malevolent side that can take over and cause destruction.
Cléa van der Grijn is an international award winning visual artist and film-maker based in Ireland. Her process is multi-faceted, incorporating site-specific installation, large format photography, sculpture, drawing, painting and film. With painting she demonstrate a process orientated philosophy, engaging the viewer with the concept of deconstruction by demonstrating uncoordinated compositions that deliberately reveal traces of use, whereby the nature of their materiality is brought to the foreground. With film, she emphasises the fragile + emotional states of mankind. An oneiric land cinematically beautiful + psychologically disturbing. In her film work, the creative use of editing compacts ideas of time and space, and invites us into dreamscapes and mindscapes that emphasise the characters’ emotional lives. Cinematography, sound design, set, props and costume are all intrinsic to her film process.
This will be van der Grijn’s second feature length film. Her previous films, including FLUX, JUMP and Reconstructing Memory, have won numerous awards at International Film Festivals. In 2021 her short film JUMP was purchased by the Irish Museum of Modern Art for their permanent collection.
