Artist~Schools practice is a general term for what
happens when skilled, professional artists work for and with primary/secondary
school pupils in the making, receiving and interpreting of a wide range of arts
experiences. The practice can happen within or outside the schools, in all art
forms and disciplines and can range from one-off visits, through more extended
programmes, to intensive, collaborative projects. The Guidelines are intended
to assist artists, arts organisations, schools and all those interested, e.g.,
early childhood providers, parents, policy-makers, in designing initiatives by
setting out characteristics (philosophical and practical) of good practice
models; pointing to key issues and questions to be addressed; setting out
approaches to planning/implementation/evaluation.
