Through research and consultation, the Arts Council has
been made aware of the difficulties organisations had in hiring artists and
arts workers from outside the EEA. This difficulty and lack of knowledge on how
to hire migrant workers has led to low numbers of non-EEA artists/arts workers
being employed in Ireland, and made it challenging for employers who wish to
hire non-EEA artists/arts workers, for artists and art workers who are not EEA
residents or citizens, and for artists in Ireland.
Following a tender process, we engaged KOD
Lyons Solicitors, who have a speciality in immigration law, to create an
information leaflet on the types of employment permits and visas that are
available, and the steps an organisation can take to hire non-EEA workers.
